While I was building a baby in my womb, my husband Kurt and I decided to craft her a gift. Together, we built her mobile, because a newborn has no where to go and no place else to look but up, and ceilings are boring. Kurt engineered a perfectly balanced metal Calder inspired skeleton, to hang a bunch of wooden space-themed shapes that I designed and cut out with my cricut.
I left some parts unpainted to show the wood grain and colored the rest in sweet pastels I mixed using baby safe paint, and then gave them a baby safe polish. The result is pretty cute and still hanging in (now toddler) Tavi's bedroom.
